DATE: Friday, 4/5/24

TRAFFIC IMPACT:

Vermont Route 121 is currently scheduled for a full closure beginning Monday, 4/15/24 at 7:00 a.m. and will continue through 3:00 p.m. Friday, 5/3/24.

The detour route will utilize Back Westminster Road, the I-91 Access Road, and U.S. Route 5.

This closure is necessary in order to facilitate the installation of northbound steel girders.

On the Interstate, northbound traffic has been diverted onto the southbound barrel. Southbound traffic is limited to the right-hand lane of travel on I-91 South.

A speed reduction of 55 mph is in place on I-91 within the project area. Fines are doubled for speeding within the construction zone.

Outside of the closure period, one -way traffic regulated by temporary signals on Vermont Route 121 at the location of the bridges will be in effect Monday through Friday.

Interstate Bridges (21N & 21S)

Crews are expected to complete drilling the existing piers and abutments for new bearing anchor bolts on the northbound bridge. Crews will then begin installing the new bearings throughout the northbound bridge. Crews will also continue working on concrete repairs throughout the existing substructure (piers and abutments) of bridge 21N. Beam work in Pennsylvania includes lead removal that will be completed early next week. Painting and structural beam repairs will begin once lead removal has been completed.

LOCATION: Bridges 21N and 21S span the Saxtons River and Saxtons River Road

(VT 121). The bridges are located approximately 2.4 miles north of Exit 5 along I-91.

Rockingham Voters, Thank you for your Input!

Rockingham Selectboard’s survey about Town Meeting closed on Feb 3. Here is a direct link to the results. 368 voters responded – approx. 10% of registered voters. As explained, this is merely a survey and not any sort of binding vote. The results offer much food for thought and discussion. Each comment field has a scroll bar:
